…am going to make a status update about status updates. Namely, status icons and indicators, which Ontoclasm recently did a set of to add to the already large mountain of icons he has created for Demon. You can see some of these in the screenshot below.
He also updated approximately 70 of his previous ability icons to match the new status icons in his set, which is extra awesome. Thank you again Ontoclasm!
One more goodie for the upcoming build: new Brand art by Ontoclasm! Here’s a sample of some of it in game. As with the old Brand art, colors are randomly selected for each Brand, so the colors shown here are not the only ones you’ll find. Thanks again Ontoclasm!
And, here’s Ontoclasm’s version of the new ability icons. Thank you again Ontoclasm, these are awesome as always!
Ontoclasm volunteered to also update Demon’s item icons. These will be included in the upcoming small balance adjustment build, which I hope to release in roughly a week or so.
The main targets of the balance adjustments will be a slight tweak to the Aux Guard/Power upgrade numbers, and an adjustment to Revive Demon to make Faithful Heart a bit more appealing. See you again soon!

Wanted to drop a small update: I’ll be posting another build early-mid January with some further balance adjustments and new item icons from Ontoclasm After that, it’s on to the 30th floor!
In the meantime, enjoy another piece of fan art by Zyalin. I’m not sure how this Summoner and his gandayah friends escaped the Tower, but I wish them a happy new year too.
You may have noticed I’ve been avoiding screenshots lately. There’s been a reason for that: I didn’t want to risk spoiling the surprise addition to the upcoming balance build. New interface and ability icon art by Ontoclasm!
And now, the Ontoclasm version of one of my favorite things to show off about Demon:
Like with Geminimax’s character sprites, there is an option in the options menu for switching back to the old interface and ability icons if you prefer, but Ontoclasm’s icon set will be the active interface and ability icon set used by default.

It took waaaayyyy longer than I’d hoped, but we’re finally here! The Brand build is officially released, and the links to the right have been updated! Thank you to everyone who helped with testing, thank you to everyone period for your patience, and thanks Zyalin for providing another piece of fan art for me to use for the announcement, this one depicting a Summoner who seems to prefer spectral allies!
Even if you played the last Brand test build, there will be new goodies awaiting you. Besides some bug fixes and balance tweaks, there are also new Brand modifiers, as well as Brand-related Relic Upgrades, including Create Brand, which allows you to sacrifice a demon to gain a new Brand based on its Modifier. Oh, and I nearly forgot, you can now also view previous messages by pressing F12!
As you’d probably expect, this version uses a new scoreboard version.
Everything else I would say, I’ve probably said over the last half a year or so. Enjoy, and good luck in the Tower!

As for Demon itself, the Brand Build continues to make progress: I’ve finished the rest of the Create Brand modifier lists and hooked them all up, and I’ve started wresting with how to display message history. Once that and some last bits of polish and solo testing are done, we’ll be good to go.

Hey folks. First, another awesome piece of fan art from Zyalin, this time of an Abbey Lubber. Abbey Lubbers have become an oddly intense subject of conversation of late in the Demon section of the /r/Roguelikes Discord, and I’m still not sure why, but it makes sense why Zyalin would choose to depict one given that.
And also, a small progress update: I’ve nearly created all the Brand modifier rulesets for use with Create Brand! Once I finish that, the only big thing left before release will be adding a method for viewing more message log history. Still in slow mode due to work, but we’re finally in the home stretch.
